NDOT Style Guide and Editorial Guidelines

Consistency in what we say and how we say it defines how the public views us. Use this style guide to help you write and create material that inspires confidence in the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT). Following this style guide is mandatory. NDOT uses Associated Press (AP) Style in all communication and marketing materials. If you have questions about AP style, please call the Communications & Public Policy Division at (402) 471-4567.

Style + Brand Guidelines

The NDOT Style Guide is a tool to effectively and consistently implement the brand standards outlined in the NDOT Brand Book. The guidelines within it and accompanying templates establish specific visual standards that will ensure a more cohesive brand identity among various public information materials.

Logos

It is important to include the appropriate agency logos on materials as it helps the public understand which agencies are involved in a project. Use of the NDOT logo needs to be cleared first with the Director of Communications & Public Policy.

        • Never stretch or skew the logo.
        • Never alter the logo's colors.
        • Maintain a clear space around the logo that is at least the height of the "N" on all sides.

Click on a file below to download the logo best suited for your use according to the Style Guide.

        • eps (encapsulated postscript file, typically used in Adobe Illustrator)
        • jpg (joint photographic experts group, white background on image, typically used in web or print media)
        • png (portable network graphics, supports lossless compression, transparent background, typically used in web or print media)

On general NDOT information
materials, use the logo with the tagline and with the department designation
