Lyle Leader Memorial Award

Lyle Leader Memorial Award

Lyle Leader was a Project Manager with the Department of Roads.   Employed with the NDOR for over 34 years.  Lyle passed away August 16, 1991 and was still active in the District 3, Hartington Office, at that time.  Lyle was highly respected by his peers, contractors, and everyone with whom he worked. Lyle had a servant-like leadership style, going above and beyond his job description, working diligently, never complaining or asking for anything in return.

Lyle was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.  Unfortunately, he didn’t get to see the Cubs win the World Series. When he wasn’t hopelessly rooting for the Cubs, he was cheering on his own boys as they played ball. Lyle built a beautiful, family with his lovely bride, Lois. They raised a daughter and five sons in their 35 years of marriage. He was a family man and a humble man. He worked hard for what he had and gave back everything he could.

He was an active member in his community, always ready to step up to volunteer and to provide for anyone in need. Lyle donated his time to many local organizations, including the Crofton School Board and St. Rose Parish Council. Everyone who encountered Lyle felt his genuine support and consideration. Lyle was truly a standup employee of the State of Nebraska, and an influential member of the Crofton community. He is an example by which we all should try to imitate.

The Lyle Leader Memorial Award is presented annually to the NDOR Project Manager whom AGC members believe best exemplifies the character and work ethic displayed by Lyle Leader.
