After completion of the Highway 15 project through Seward – Project Manager Brian Schoen was asked to be the Festival Foreman of Seward’s Christmas Parade. Brian accepted this undertaking, decorated his truck and along with Christian Gunderson and Connor Beck led the parade down the street. The Seward Maintenance Shop also entered a snowplow truck in the parade. Those participating were Travis Kemerling, Brett Bollwitt, and Nate Phillips. Candy and NDOT goodies were handed out throughout the parade route.

Ashland Hometown Christmas Parade took place on Saturday, Dec. 14^th. District 1 Greenwood Maintenance Yard entered snowplow truck “Darth Blader” a recipient of the name-a-snowplow contest from previous years. The roll of Darth Vader as played by Robert Potter, escorted by Snowtroopers Joel Bisgard, Travis Harris, Mike O’Connell. Westen Sturm was the Name-a-Snowplow winner with “Fast & Snowiest.”  He is a fifth grader at Southern Elementary School of Wymore.  Snowplow operators Brian Tadlock and Trevor Husa of Beatrice Maintenance helped class members sit in the truck.  Also attending and making the award presentation was Todd Cecrle, Hwy. Superintendent of the area, Bob Rankin, District 1 Operations Manager, and Brandon Varilek, District 1 Engineer. Westen was presented a plaque and a toy truck replica.
